Swell Maps - Read About Seymour

On this date in 1978, Swell Maps released their debut single, "Read About Seymour". It was backed by "Ripped & Torn" and "Black Velvet". All three tracks were actually recorded in 1976. A version of the A side appeared on their third and final album, Whatever Happens Next. The supporting tracks were non-LP tracks. The Birmingham, England post punk band called it quits in 1980 after four singles and three albums, though it's a little strange to categorize them as post punk given the date of these recordings. Maybe pre-post punk?
