Gen X - Kiss Me Deadly

On this date in 1981, Gen X (as Generation X was now being called) released their third and final album, Kiss Me Deadly. It contained the single, "Dancing With Myself" (#62 U.K.). The London punk band was formed by Billy Idol, Tony James and John Towe, all of whom left punk band Chelsea before it was time to record. This album contained only two of its founding members, Billy Idol and Tony James. They brought in Terry Chimes (ex-Clash) on drums and used a few guitarists to record the tracks. They would break up soon after this release. Tony James went on to form Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Billy Idol found some success as a solo artist, didn't he?
