The Associates - Party Fears Two


On this date in 1982, The Associates released their ninth single, "Party Fears Two". The B side was "It's Better This Way". Both tracks appeared on their third album, Sulk. The single reached the #9 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Edinburgh, Scotland new wave band disbanded in 1990 after four albums but re-formed a few years later. The band affectively ended with the death of Billy MacKenzie in 1997.

Love this song. It has one of the most poerful and distinctive synth motifs. Awesome, simply awesome. If I put together a 25 " best of " new wave songs, this would be on the list, FOR SURE!!
