The Nails - Transcontinental Ska

On this date in 1980, The Nails released their third single, "Transcontinental Ska". It was backed by "Young And Wild". Neither song appeared on an album (they didn't release their debut LP, Mood Swings, until 1984). They were originally called The Ravers (they released their debut single, "Cops Are Punks", under both The Ravers and The Nails) and originated in Boulder, Colorado. They relocated to New York City to expand their audience. The punk/new wave band disbanded in 1988. Their early roadie, Eric Boucher, went on to front Dead Kennedys under his new name, Jello Biafra.
