The Jam - The Modern World


On this date in 1977, The Jam released their third single, "The Modern World". It was backed by two songs recorded live, "Sweet Soul Music" and "Back In My Arms Again" plus part of another live song, "Bricks And Mortar". The A side appeared on their second album, This Is The Modern World. The single reached the #36 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Woking, England punk/mod revivalist band disbanded in 1982 after six studio albums. Paul Weller went on to form The Style Council. Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler have toured together since but Paul Weller has no interest in a reunion.
