In September of 1982, The Beat (or The English Beat as they were known in the U.S.) released their third and final album, Special Beat Service. It contained the singles, "Jeanette" (#45 U.K.), "Save It For Later" (#47 U.K.) and "I Confess" (#54 U.K.). The album reached the #21 spot on the U.K. albums chart. When the English ska band broke up in 1983, Ranking Roger and Dave Wakeling formed General Public. David Steele and Andy Cox formed Fine Young Cannibals.
