Brendan Mullen, founder of The Masque, died in Los Angeles today of a stroke. The Masque, located in Hollywood, California, was one of the few clubs actively promoting the early Los Angeles punk rock scene. It existed from 1977 to 1979. X, The Mau Mau's, The Avengers, The Germs, The Dils, The Dickies, The Zeros, The Bags and countless others played there.
Rest in peace, Brendan, and thanks for your important contribution to the California punk rock scene!

I remember that guy. I use to go to that club back in the day. He also has a club called "Club Lingerie" I lived a block away from it, which I think became the Viper Room where River Phoenix died.
I was given a signed copy of "Lexicon Devil: the Fast Times and Short Life of Darby Crash and the Germs" by a friend. His reflections on paper were insightful and meticulous without being sentimental or precious.
RIP
