Joy Division - Atmosphere

On this date in 1980, Joy Division released their third single, "Atmosphere". It was backed by "She's Lost Control". A different version of The B side appeared on their debut album, Unknown Pleasures. The A side did not appear on either of their studio albums. Another version of the single had a B side of "Dead Souls", another non-LP track. Of course, the Manchester, U.K. post-punk band effectively ended when lead singer Ian Curtis hung himself on May 18, 1980. The remaining members of the band formed New Order.
