Punk poet Jim Carroll dies at 60

US writer and musician Jim Carroll, best know for writing The Basketball Diaries, has died in New York aged 60 following a heart attack.

Carroll's 1978 book, about his teenage years as a star basketball player and drug user was made into a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Interesting book (even if it WASN'T the Pulitzer nominee he claimed it was); great first album; intriguing second album. Our band used to close with "People Who Died." People thought it was our song. Yeah, it fit pretty well. :) R.I.P.. Jim.
