The Boomtown Rats - Rat Trap

|

On this date in 1978, The Boomtown Rats released their fifth single, "Rat Trap". It was backed by "So Strange". The A side appeared on their second album, A Tonic For The Troops. The B side was not but was added as a bonus track when the album was re-released on CD. The single went all the way to the #1 spot on the U.K. singles chart. It was the first #1 U.K. single for any Irish band. The Dublin, Ireland punk/new wave band disbanded in 1986 after six albums.
