On this date in 1980, Athletico Spizz 80 released their seventh single (collectively under all of their various band names), "Central Park". It was backed by another version of "Central Park". The A side appeared on their second album, Spikey Dream Flowers (which was released under the name, The Spizzles). The West Midlands, England punk/new wave band had been around since 1978 and changed their name almost annually. During their career, they were known as Athletico Spizz 80, Spizzenergi, Spizzoil, The Spizzles, Spizzsexual, Spizzorbit and Spizzorwell and Spizzenergi:2. The English punk/new wave band effectively disbanded in 1982 but has gotten together on and off since then and has recorded.
