The Stranglers - Walk On By

On this date in 1978, The Stranglers released their seventh single, "Walk On By". It was backed by "Tank" and "Old Codger". The A side was originally released as a bonus single accompanying their third album, Black And White. The B sides on that free offering were "Mean To Me" and a live track called "Tits". Only the first 75,000 copies had the bonus disk. In fact, without the bonus single, only "Tank" appeared on the actual album. All four of the other songs were included as bonuses eventually on some versions of the re-release on CD. The single reached the #21 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Surrey, U.K. punk/post punk band is still performing and recording, though without original lead singer, Hugh Cornwell, who left in 1990.
