Simple Minds - Glittering Prize


On this date in 1982, Simple Minds released their tenth single, "Glittering Prize". It was backed by "Glittering Prize (theme)". The A side appeared on their sixth album, New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84). The single reached the #16 spot on the U.K. singles chart. Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill had started out together in a punk band called Johnny & The Self Abusers. They disbanded and Simple Minds was formed. The Glasgow, Scotland new wave band continues on.
