The Selecter - The Whisper

On this date in 1980, The Selecter released their fourth single of their own, "The Whisper" (they debuted with a split single with The Specials). It was backed by "Train To Skaville". The 12 inch version also included an extended version of "Train To Skaville" plus "Street Feeling". "Street Feeling" appeared on their debut album, Too Much Pressure. None of the other tracks appeared on an album but the two 7-inch sides were added as bonuses to their second album, Celebrate The Bullet" when it was re-released on CD. The single reached the #36 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Coventry, England ska band disbanded in 1982 after two albums. The band re-formed in 1991 and have released several albums since then.
