Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Souvenir

|

On this date in 1981, OMD released their fifth single, "Souvenir". It was backed by a re-mixed version of "Motion And Heart" and "Sacred Heart". The A side appeared on their third album, Architecture & Morality. The original version of "Motion And Heart" appeared on their second album, Organisation. "Sacred Heart" and the re-mixed version "Motion And Heart" were non-LP tracks that were added to Architecture & Morality as bonus tracks when it was re-released on CD. The single reached the #3 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Cheshire, England new wave band was led by Paul Humphreys (ex-Dalek I Love You) and Andy McCluskey. When Humphries left in 1989, McCluskey kept the band going until 1996. They have recently re-formed with the classic line-up.
