Ian Dury and The Blockheads - I Want To Be Straight


On this date in 1980, Ian Dury & The Blockheads released their eighth single, "I Want To Be Straight". The B side was "That's Not All". Neither track appeared on a regular album. The title track was about drug abuse, not sexual orientation. The single reached the #22 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London punk/post-punk band was fronted by Ian Dury. They disbanded in 1981. After a solo career, Dury worked again with The Blockheads before his death on March 27, 2000.
