The Clash - Take It Or Leave It!

On this date in 1977, The Clash saw a live album called Take It Or Leave It! hit the streets. It was not an official release. It was a 16 song live bootleg taken from their show at The Electric Circus in Manchester, England on May 8, 1977. CBS, who had The Clash under contract, tried to stop its distribution but was unsuccessful. There were really only 15 different songs on the album. "1977" appeared twice. The original pressing was limited to 200 copies but it has been re-released a few times since. The London punk band disbanded in 1986. Mick Jones formed Big Audio Dynamite. Joe Strummer was involved in many projects until his death in 2002.
