The Adverts - Gary Gilmore's Eyes

On this date in 1977, The Adverts released their second single, "Gary Gilmore's Eyes". It was backed by "Bored Teenagers". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, Crossing The Red Sea With The Adverts, but not the first version of the album. The A side was left off the initial pressing but added when re-pressed in 1981. The B side, while always there, was a different version than the album track. An expanded CD version of the album contained both 7 inch versions. This single reached the #18 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London punk band disbanded in 1979 after two albums. T.V. Smith went on to form T.V. Smith's Explorers.
