Zones - Sign Of The Times

On this date in 1978, Zones released their second single, "Sign Of The Times". It was backed by "Away From It All". Neither song appeared on their sole album, Under Influence. The Edinburgh, Scotland post punk band rose from the ashes of a band called Slik that was fronted by Midge Ure. Midge went on to form The Rich Kids while the remaining members formed Zones. They released four singles and an album before disbanding in 1979. Bass player Russel Webb joined The Skids and, of course, Midge Ure, after a stint in Visage, would find success fronting Ultravox.
