Zones - Mourning Star

On this date in 1979, Zones released their fourth single, "Mourning Star". It was backed by "Under The Influence". The A side appeared on their debut album, Under Influence. The B side did not. The Edinburgh, Scotland post punk band rose from the ashes of a band called Slik that was fronted by Midge Ure. Midge went on to form The Rich Kids while the remaining members formed Zones. They released four singles and an album before disbanding in 1979. Bass player Russel Webb joined The Skids and, of course, Midge Ure, after a stint in Visage, would find success fronting Ultravox.
