On this date in 1979, Yellow Magic Orchestra released their self-titled debut album in the U.S. and Europe. The album had been released in Japan in 1978 but the songs were remixed and the cover art was changed for the U.S. and European versions. It contained the U.S. single, "Firecracker", as well as the U.K. singles, "Yellow Magic (Tong Poo)", "La Femme Chinoise" and "Computer Games". The Tokyo, Japan new wave band disbanded in 1984 but have performed live together recently.

We're slackers...
We don't update The P5 every day like we used to. So when we slack off, just use the search box up there on the right. Yeah, the red box, that's it. Search The P5 Archives. You'll be glad you did.
