On this date in 1978, X-Ray Spex released their third single, "Identity". It was backed by "Let's Submerge". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, Germfree Adolescents. The single reached the #24 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London punk band disbanded in 1979 after one album. Jak Airport and BP Hurding formed Classix Nouveaux and Poly Styrene went solo before becoming a Hare Krishna. Lora Logic was an original member at 16 years old but left after their first single to finish school. She went on to form Essential Logic. Lora Logic eventually became a Hare Krishna too. The group re-formed and released a new album in 1995 with Logic and Styrene in the band. It didn't last long.
