The Undertones - Julie Ocean

On this date in 1981, The Undertones released their ninth single, "Julie Ocean". It was backed by "Kiss In The Dark". The A side was included on their third album, Positive Touch, but was a different version of the song. The B side was left off. When the album was re-released on CD, both the B side and the single version of the A side were added as bonus tracks. The single reached the #41 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Derry, Northern Ireland punk/post-punk band lasted until 1983. Frontman Feargal Sharkey went solo and Sean and Damian O'Neill formed That Petrol Emotion. The Undertones re-formed in 1999 without Feargal.
