Snakefinger - The Spot

|

On this date in 1978, Snakefinger released his debut single, "The Spot". It was backed by "Smelly Tongues". Neither track appeared on his debut album, Chewing Hides The Sound. Snakefinger was actually London post punk musician Philip Charles Lithman. Under the name Snakefinger, he released five studio albums before dying of a heart attack on July 1, 1987. His close association with The Residents were a major influence on them and vice versa. He played for years with them live and contributed in the studio. As a matter of fact, The Residents produced this single.

'Smelly Tongues was originally on The Resident's 'Meet the Residents' LP. It's a great track . I didn't know it had been covered. I'm going to have to try and track this down!
