Scritti Politti - Asylums In Jerusalem

On this date in 1982, Scritti Politti released their sixth 7-inch record, "Asylums In Jerusalem". It was backed by "Jacques Derrida". A few weeks later, they released this as a 12" single, adding "A Slow Soul". All three tracks appeared on their debut album, Songs To Remember, though the "Jacques Derrida" version on the single was taken from a Peel session. The single reached the #43 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Leeds, England post-punk band was founded by Welsh-born Green Gartside. He was its only permanent member. The band continues on.
