On this date in 1982, Ruts D.C., formerly known as The Ruts, released their second album under their new name. It was called Rhythm Collision Vol 1. It was a collection of instrumental dub tracks and there were no singles released from the album. The London reggae-influenced punk band released two albums as The Ruts before the heroin overdose death of lead singer Malcolm Owen on July 14, 1980. They tried to carry on under the new name, Ruts DC, with very limited success, and disbanded in 1983.
