The Merton Parkas - You Need Wheels

On this date in 1979, The Merton Parkas released their debut single, "You Need Wheels". It was backed by "I Don't Want To Know You". Both songs appeared on their debut (and only) album, Face In The Crowd. The London mod revivalists only lasted until 1980. The A side reached the #40 spot on the U.K. singles chart. Lead singer Mick Talbot went on to join Dexys Midnight Runners, then The Bureau and finally, The Style Council with ex-The Jam frontman Paul Weller.
