On this date in 1980, Jean-Jacques Burnel, bass player for The Stranglers, released his second single, "Girl From The Snow Country". It was backed by "Ode To Joy" and "Do The European". Only the last track appeared on his debut album, Euroman Cometh. The other two tracks were non-LP tracks. When the album was re-released on CD, "Ode To Joy" was added. The single was re-called due to a label dispute and the A side was never re-released. Ex-Damned and future Lords Of The New Church guitarist Brian James played on the album which was more synth-dominated than The Stranglers' music. It was a side project that Burnel would occasionally explore during his tenure with The Stranglers (which still continues today).
