DEV-O Live

On this date in 1981, Devo released their first live offering. It was a six song EP called DEV-O Live which was recorded live in August of 1980. The tracks were "Freedom Of Choice Theme Song", "Whip It", "Girl U Want", "Gates Of Steel", "Be Stiff" and "Planet Earth". In the U.S., a single was released with the live versions "Gates Of Steel" and "Be Stiff". When re-released on CD, it became a full-length, 22 song offering, which includes the original six songs and then the same six songs repeated again plus 10 added songs. The Akron, Ohio punk/new wave band went on hiatus in the early 90's as the band members were involved in separate projects. They resumed recording and performing in 1996.
