Dalek I - Freedom Fighters

|

On this date in 1979, Dalek I released their debut single, "Freedom Fighters". It was backed by "Two Chameleons". Both sides appeared on their debut album, Compass Kum' Pas. The band had been known as Dalek I Love You, but they shortened the name when the band whittled down to two members, David Hughes (later of OMD) and Alan Gill of Teardrop Explodes. They would change their name back to Dalek I Love you later on. The Liverpool post punk/new wave band with a constantly changing lineup called it quits in 1990.

Top stuff! I'd forgot all about this single (Freedom Fighters0, but the lyrics have popped back into my head in a trice.
