On this date in 1979, The B-52's released their self-titled debut album. It contained the singles, "Rock Lobster" (#56 U.S., #37 U.K.), "Planet Claire", "6060-842", "52 Girls" and "Dance This Mess Around". The album reached the #59 spot on the U.S. albums chart and the #22 spot on the U.K. albums chart. The Athens, Georgia new wave quintet was reduced to a foursome after the death of Ricky Wilson but have continued on. They just released a new album.
