The B-52's - Party Mix

On this date in 1981, The B-52's released their third album, Party Mix! It was actually a six song EP with extended and re-mixed versions of songs released on their first two albums. The tracks were "Party Out Of Bounds", "Private Idaho", "Give Me Back My Man", "Lava", "Dance This Mess Around" and "52 Girls". The album reached the #36 spot on the U.K. albums chart and the #55 spot on the U.S. albums chart. The Athens, Georgia new wave quintet was reduced to a foursome after the death of Ricky Wilson but have continued on. They just released a new album.

I grew up on Long Island and listened to WVHC in the early 80s. It was because of them that I discovered so many of the great New Wave bands of the 80s, and this was before WLIR changed their format and became only New Wave. That music completely changed my life. Thanks for being there then and for continuing the great memories now.
