Tom Tom Club - Wordy Rappinghood

On this date in 1981, Tom Tom Club released their debut single, "Wordy Rappinghood". It was backed by "(You Don't Stop) Wordy Rappinghood" (an instrumental version of the A side). The 12 inch single provided an extra song, "Spooks". The A side appeared on their self-titled debut album. The other tracks did not until a recent CD re-release. The single reached the #7 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The band was formed as a side project by Talking Heads' members Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz. The new wave husband and wive duo continue on today.
