On this date in 1979, The Records released their debut album, Shades In Bed. It included their first single, "Starry Eyes" (#56 U.S.) and their third single, "Teenarama" but excluded their second single, "Rock And Roll Love Letter", because the band felt the single was a flop. In the U.S., the debut album was simply called "The Records" where the track order was changed and "Starry Eyes" was a re-recorded version of the single, not the original cut. The album reached the #41 spot on the U.S. albums chart. The London power pop band broke up in 1982. Singer John Wicks tried to recapture the magic under the name John Wicks and The Records and they have released a few albums.
