The Psychedelic Furs - Pretty In Pink


On this date in 1981, The Psychedelic Furs released their fifth single, "Pretty In Pink". It was backed by "Mack The Knife" which was a cover version of the Bobby Darin song. The A side appeared on their second album, Talk Talk Talk. The B side did not. The single reached the #43 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The single was re-released in 1986 after the song inspired a movie of the same name. It was a re-recorded version. This time, it reached the #18 spot on the U.K. singles chart and the #41 spot on the U.S. singles chart. The London post punk/new wave band lasted until 1991. Brothers Richard and Tim Butler formed Love Spit Love. In 2000, they re-formed with the brothers Butler and Jon Ashton back in the fold. They continue to perform.
