XTC - No Thugs In Our House

On this date in 1979, XTC released their fifth single, "Life Begins At The Hop". It was backed by an instrumental called "Homo Safari". The A side appeared on some versions of their third album, Drums And Wires" but not others. No matter. The single was re-recorded and is not the same as the version that appears on some versions of the album anyway. The B side was a non-LP track. The pre-single version is included on all versions of the CD. The B side was still not included. The single climbed its way to the #44 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Swindon, England post punk/new wave band called it quits in 2006 when Colin Moulding expressed a desire to call it quits. Andy Partridge didn't feel that it would be XTC without the both of them.
