The Undertones

On this date in 1979, The Undertones released their self-titled debut album. It contained the singles, "Jimmy Jimmy" (#16 U.K.) and "Here Comes The Summer" (#34 U.K.). Later in the year, the album was revised and the tracklisting changed. This second release included two additional singles, "Teenage Kicks" (#31 U.K.) and "Get Over You" (#57 U.K.). The album, itself, reached the #31 spot on the U.K. albums chart. The Derry, Northern Ireland punk/post-punk band disbanded in 1983. They had seven top 40 U.K. singles during their time together. They re-formed in 1999 but lead singer Feargal Sharkey did not join them.
