The Stooges - Metallic KO

On this date in 1976, The Stooges released their fourth album, Metallic KO. It was a live album of concert material from 1973 and 1974. Actually, it wasn't an official release. It was a bootleg recorded by one of their fans. The Ann Arbor, Michigan proto punk band disbanded in 1974 after three albums. Frontman Iggy Pop went on to a successful solo career. They re-formed a few years ago. Iggy and drummer Scott Asheton remain from the original band. Guitarist Ron Asheton, who was in the re-formed lineup, died earlier this year.
