The Specials - Rat Race

On this date in 1980, The Specials released their fourth single, "Rat Race". It was backed by "Rude Boys Outta Jail". The A side appeared on their second album, More Specials. The B side was a non-LP track but was added as a bonus track when the album was re-released on CD. The single climbed all the way to the #5 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Coventry, England ska band listed their name as Special A.K.A. for some records, a practice that they sometimes employed even before the departure of Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Neville Staples (to form Fun Boy Three in 1981). They have re-formed and are touring.
