Soft Cell - Torch

On this date in 1981, Soft Cell released their seventh single, "Torch". It was backed by "Insecure Me". Neither song appeared on an album but they were added to their debut, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, when it was re-released on CD. The single reached the #2 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Leeds, England new wave band disbanded in 1984 but has gotten together again in recent years.

Both song are excellent. The song "Insecure Me" appeared on their album Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing and "Torch" appeared on the album The Singles 1981-1985.

Such a fantastic song... I especially love the extended version. Soft Cell's 12" mixes were always great and often included entire verses that weren't in the single/album versions. "Torch" was one of the best examples of that.
