The Soft Boys - (I Want To Be An) Anglepoise Lamp

On this date in 1978, The Soft Boys released their first single, "(I Want To Be An) Anglepoise Lamp". It was backed by "Fatman's Son". This was actually their second 7-inch release (they had issued an EP in 1977 called Give It To The Soft Boys). Neither song originally appeared on their debut album, A Can Of Bees, but the B side was added when re-released on CD. A live version of the A side was added as a bonus track too. The Cambridge, England punk/post-punk/neo psychedelic band disbanded in 1980 after two albums, a few EP's and some singles. Robyn Hitchcock went on to form The Egyptians. Kimberley Rew went on to play guitar in Katrina and The Waves.
