Simple Minds - The American


On this date in 1981, Simple Minds released their sixth single, "The American". It was backed by "League Of Nations". Both songs appeared on their fifth album, Sisters Feelings Call. The single reached the #59 spot on the U.K. singles chart. Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill had started out together in a punk band called Johnny & The Self Abusers. They disbanded and Simple Minds was formed. The Glasgow, Scotland new wave band continues on.
