Public Image Ltd on American Bandstand

|

On this date in 1980, Public Image Limited had, perhaps, the most infamous appearance of any act on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. They performed "Poptones" and "Careering" so to speak. Johnny refused to lipsynch and made little effort to pretend that he was actually singing. He entered the audience, urged the audience to dance anywhere they felt like dancing, including the stage, and gave away the band's instruments to the audience. Good old-fashioned chaos!

They were never invited back.

New link to a low quality video. Looks like Dick(head) Clark Productions had all the other videos removed from the web.
