Gang Of Four - I Love A Man In A Uniform

On this date in 1982, Gang Of Four released their sixth single, "I Love A Man In A Uniform". It was backed by "The World At Fault". The A side appeared on their third full length album, Songs Of The Free. The B side was a non-LP track that was added as a bonus track when the album was re-released on CD. The single reached the #65 spot in the U.K. Of course, it wasn't helped by the fact that the BBC banned the single from airplay because they alleged that the song was a thinly veiled criticism of the Falklands War. The Leeds, England post punk band slowed down considerably after 1983 but has performed sporadically since then. Original members Dave Allen and Hugo Burnham had rejoined the band a few years ago but left again last year leaving Jon King and Andy Gill to replace them...again.
