On this date in 1979, Elvis Costello (with the Attractions) released his twelfth single, "Accidents Will Happen". It was backed by "Talking In The Dark" and "Wednesday Week". The A side appeared on his third studio album, Armed Forces. Neither B side appeared on the album but both added as bonus tracks when the album was re-released on CD. The single made it to the #28 spot on the U.K. singles chart. There were other versions of the single as well with different B sides ("Sunday's Best" was the U.S. B side, another track from Armed Forces). The London punk/new wave singer is still recording and performing. His backup band is now The Imposters.
