The Clash - Combat Rock

On this date in 1982, The Clash released their fifth album, Combat Rock. It produced the singles, "Know Your Rights" (#43 U.K.), "Rock The Casbah" (#30 U.K., #8 U.S.), "Straight To Hell" and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" (#17 U.K., #45 U.S.). Interestingly enough, both "Rock The Casbah" and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" were both re-released as singles in the U.K. in 1991 where they hit the #15 and #1 respectively, both exceeding their original peak chart positions. The album reached the #2 spot on the U.K. albums chart and the #7 spot on the U.S. albums chart. This was the last album with Mick Jones and Topper Headon. The London punk band disbanded in 1986 Mick Jones formed Big Audio Dynamite. Joe Strummer was involved in many projects until his death in 2002.
