Pretenders - Extended Play

On this date in 1981, The Pretenders released Extended Play, an EP of five songs. It was only released in the U.S. It was designed to bridge the gap between their first and second albums for U.S. fans. The songs were "Message Of Love", "Porcelain", "Talk Of The Town" and "Cuban Slide" plus a live version of "Precious". "Message Of Love", and "Talk Of The Town" were A sides in the U.K and both appeared on their second full length album, Pretenders II. The other two studio tracks were B sides and did not appear on their second album. The live track was unique to this release. The EP reached the #27 spot on the U.S. album chart. The London punk/new wave band, fronted by Ohio-raised Chrissie Hynde, is still in existence.
