Ian Dury & The Blockheads - What A Waste


On this date in 1978, Ian Dury & The Blockheads released their fourth single, "What A Waste". It was backed by "Wake Up (And Make Love With Me)". The B side which had been previously released as a single, was on their debut album, New Boots And Panties!! The A side was a non-LP track that was added to their second album, Do It Yourself, as a bonus on a later CD re-release. The single reached the #9 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London punk/post-punk band disbanded in 1981. After a solo career, Dury worked again with The Blockheads before his death on March 27, 2000.
