The Beat - Drowning

On this date in 1981, The Beat released their sixth single, "Drowning". It was backed by "All Out To Get You". Both tracks appeared on their second album, Wha'ppen. The Birmingham, England ska band broke up in 1983 after three albums. Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger formed General Public. Andy Cox and David Steele formed Fine Young Cannibals. They were, of course, known as The English Beat in the U.S.
