Athletico Spizz 80 - No Room

On this date in 1980, Athletico Spizz 80 released their first single under the name Athletico Spizz 80. It was "No Room" and it was backed by "Spock's Missing". The B side was a logical follow-up to their previous single, "Where's Captain Kirk?" , released under their previous name Spizzenergi. When the U.K. indie chart was first created on New Year's Day, 1980, Spizzenergi had the first number one song on that chart, "Where's Captain Kirk?" and it stayed there for eight consecutive weeks. The followup, "No Room" also hit #1 on the U.K. indie chart. None of these songs were included on their next album, Do A Runner, which was credited to Athletico Spizz 80. They changed their name almost annually and, during their career, they were known as Athletico Spizz 80, Spizzenergi, Spizzoil, The Spizzles, Spizzsexual, Spizzorbit and Spizzorwell and Spizzenergi:2. The English punk/new wave band effectively disbanded in 1982 but has gotten together on and off since then.
